General
Women in Farming groups have a sheep/beef focus.
Women in Agribusiness groups are aimed at women involved in any rural business (e.g. agriculture, horticulture, viticulture, forestry as well as rural businesses or industry).
Some groups have facilitators / convenors, while others are run by a committee. Each group decides how they wish to organise themselves and they choose their own programme.
Women in Farming and Women in Agribusiness groups are Rural Women New Zealand special interest groups, giving them the same entitlements as other RWNZ branch members. (i.e. they receive the Rural Women magazine, the RWNZ Express, newsletters, access to bursaries, grants, competitions, conferences etc.)
Annual national membership subscriptions are paid to RWNZ national office. For the 2010 year (1 January to 31 December) the subscription is $35 inc GST.
Other fees are set by individual groups to cover their costs, and will vary depending on how the group is organised.
~~~
The Women in Farming project was established in 2002 by a group of professional and farming women who successfully applied to the Sustainable Farming Fund for seeding monies. Sustainable Farming Fund financial support is now complete and the programme has been the subject of two evaluations:
2005 Evaluation of the SFF-funded Women in Farming project
2008 Evaluation of the SFF-funded Women in Farming project
